Janene Drafs is Vice President and General Manager of Nexstar’s broadcast and digital operations at KTLA in Los Angeles, CA, with oversight of KTLA-TV, KTLA+, ktla.com, and related website, mobile apps and social media channels.  Since taking the helm at KTLA in 2020 she has launched Emmy Award winning News and local programming including:  KTLA News at 5pm, LA Unscripted, Off the Clock, Rich on Tech and KTLA Favs.   KTLA is the most watched station in Southern California, with over 110 weekly hours of locally produced News and Entertainment programs.

Overseeing a large Production division, KTLA produces red-carpet shows for the Emmy Awards, the Oscars and the Critics Choice Awards.   Ms. Drafs has deep experience in station and sales management, strategic planning, and content creation across an array of media platforms, along with an interest in developing community partnerships.    

She previously served as the Vice President and General Manager of a combination of media properties serving Seattle, WA, including two local television stations, KOMO-TV (ABC) and KUNS-TV (Univision) and their related digital operations, and three local radio stations KOMO AM/FM, KPLZ, and KVI.   

Throughout her media career, Ms. Drafs has been deeply involved in the local community, cultivating long-term relationships with non-profits and industry organizations.  She is a former member of the ABC Board of Governors, and currently serves on the board of the Los Angeles Urban League, Project Angel Food, and the California Broadcast Association.  

She was awarded the 2015 “Lead Where you Land – Best Women in Business Award” from the Center for Women in Democracy and was inducted into the Washington State Association of Broadcasting Hall of Fame. 

Ms. Drafs graduated from the University of Washington with a B.A. in Advertising Communications.
